The Java for Business Access Only program provides a means for v1.4.2 and 5.0 based customers to continue to receive security and critical fix updates for 1.4.2 and 5.0 until 2013 and 2014 respectively.

Java Standard Edition (SE) version 1.4.2 reached its end of life in late 2008, meaning security updates/fixes are no longer publicly available. Java SE 5.0 will reach it's end of life on October 30 2009.

Department means a department or division within a large enterprise
Enterprise means company-wide or the entire company

Overview

Java SE for Business provides greater cost predictability through longer support windows, and faster access to critical fixes. and updates.

As part of this program the Access Only option provides continued access to security and critical fixes for up to 10 years for 1.4.2 and 5.0; this means continued access until 2013/2014. For full details see the Java SE End of Life page.

While there is no support as part of the Java SE for Business Access Only subscription, this is available through other Java SE for Business options, listed here.
